Hellgate Elementary School District is the largest independent K-8 public school district in Montana. It began as a one-room schoolhouse in 1869, serving families living on farmland just outside of Missoula. Today, the district covers over 43 acres on the western edge of Missoula and serves approximately 1,500 students across several buildings with more than 200 staff members.
Electro Controls has been working with Hellgate Elementary School District since 1991 following a voter approved school bond to construct a new middle school building (now known as building 3), in which temperature controls were provided and installed throughout the new building. In 2004, Electro upgraded the existing Staefa system to a TALON system in the middle school building. In 2008, a new Administration building was constructed, along with additions & renovations to buildings 1, 2, and 3. Electro Controls provided and installed DDC controls for furnaces, condensing units, and an HRV in the Administration building, along with several VAVs, FTUs, boilers and pumps, EFs, CUHs, HRVs, HPUs, etc. in buildings 1, 2, and 3. In 2017, Electro provided and installed controls in the newest middle school facility (serving grades 7 and 8), following a $19.8 million bond that was approved in late 2016. Smaller projects have been completed in recent years, such as a SMII controls upgrade, boiler replacements, new furnaces, etc.
Electro Controls greatly values its long-standing relationship with Hellgate Elementary School District and the opportunity to support the district’s facilities and evolving building automation needs for more than three decades. From the original middle school installation in 1991 through subsequent system upgrades, facility expansions, renovations, and ongoing smaller projects, Electro Controls has remained committed to providing reliable temperature control solutions and responsive service. We appreciate the trust the district has placed in our team over the years and look forward to continuing to support Hellgate Elementary School District as it maintains and improves its facilities for the students, staff, and community it serves.
