Missoula County Public Schools

Missoula County Public Schools (MCPS) originated in the late 19th century to serve a growing frontier population. Franklin School was the first school, still part of MCPS, to open its doors and welcome students back in 1904. Today, MCPS consists of four high schools, three middle schools, and nine elementary schools.

Electro Controls has been working with MCPS since the late 1980s. The first school that Electro installed temperature controls in was Washington Middle School. Electro has since installed nearly 600 controllers in twelve of the seventeen MCPS schools, along with the Administration Building and the Missoula TEACH Academy. These controllers manage and optimize a wide range of mechanical equipment, including VAVs, AHUs, RTUs, chillers, boilers, heat pumps, and more. They also provide control of hot and chilled water systems. Our Tridium Niagara Supervisor platform currently integrates and monitors sixteen MCPS buildings, allowing users to view, manage, and optimize building systems from a centralized interface.

Over the years, MCPS has become a longtime, valued customer and Electro Controls takes pride in ensuring their mechanical systems operate efficiently, reliably, and comfortably.

MCPS Projects

Lowell Elementary School

Located on the North side of Missoula, Lowell School opened its doors in 1909, making it the oldest active school in the district. When the school initially opened it did not have an auditorium, kitchen, or gymnasium. The most recent renovations took place in 2016-2017, resulting in classes relocating to Mount Jumbo during that school year. These renovations included Electro Controls upgrading control devices for the HVAC and building management systems in the addition and remodel.

The hot water and chilled water systems serve both the historic building and the addition. The historic building’s airside system is comprised of unit ventilators and fan coils. The addition has a DOAS that serves the VAVs with chilled beams.
